macroni salad

Hi,

I wanted to share some info regarding macroni salad. When making my salad, I will put in frozen peas instead of the canned ones (do not unthaw first) into the salad it gives it such a better flavor. Hope someone will find this helpful when making macroni salad

Re: macroni salad

Hi grandmasgirls, Thanks for the tipSmile, I had frozen peas to my salad, mic'ing them for 1-2 min. so that there not so hard. I would like a good recipe for macroni salad, My step-mother used to make one that I reaaly like but she passed away and I never knew how she made it. Here's what I remember: Macroni, eggs, onions, green peppers, dill pickles. The dressing wasn't sweet. but other then salad dressing, most likely Mircale Whip, I don't know what else was in it,Confused. I guess I only know what I don't like in itHmm

macroni salad

Good Evening grammasgirls,   I know you all must think I'm crazy for asking for all these recipes, but I really only have what mom gave me.  I'm kind of like a sponge right now.  I really have nothing much else to do but collect recipes and try them out!  I'm stuck at home and in a wheelchair.  Doing this keeps my mind busy.  Sooooo, could you pleeeease post your recipe for macaroni salad.  I'd live to make able to make it for myself, and my hubby loves mac salad.   Thanks in advance, I really, really appreciate it!

macroni salad

Good morning ChicagoSinger

Would be glad to post my macaroni salad, when making my salad I usually don't measure the elbows I just pour into them into boiling water. The ingredients listed below depends on how much your making, I never really measure.

elbow macroni (cooked)

hard boiled eggs (again that depends on how many you like in your salad

frozen peas (again that depends on what you like

scallions

tuna fish

green pepper

Hellmans Maynoisse

Toss all the ingredients together and then add the mayo.

Hope this helps. The frozen peas gives the salad a super flavor

macroni salad

Chicago singer,

I loved my mom's cooking, but love to explore some new recipes too. However, her macaroni salad was second to none!!! It wasn't anything we measured either but always had tomatoes--fresh Indiana ones make me drool--, onions, green peppers, and Miracle Whip along with the elbow macaroni. In later years, many of us replaced the green pepper with shredded cheddar cheese.

I am going to have to make this after reading your post. I had wondered what to do with those last couple of tomatoes!!
